Hey folks- I realize I haven't posted in a while. *cough* At any rate, I'm back in Ottawa, living in Brooks Res with a nice girl named Nadijah. And I'm getting over a cold. *bleck*
-------> Aren't I just the most exciting of bloggers? ^_^; Seriously, if I'd blogged any more during the summer it would have just been awful for everyone. All depressing like. But that's over! :)
Anyway, I'd like to make a request of my friends, especially my female friends. I'm doing a paper on the nature of fan culture for my New Media class... and I'm centering the paper on women in fan culture. If you could fill out the following survey and put some thought into the important questions I'd really appreciate it (guys too). Please copy and paste this and email it with the answers to sally_limones@yahoo.ca. Or post it if you don't care who sees it. Love to you all! :)

City/Country of Residence:
Fandom(s) of Choice:
What do you do in your fan communities? (ie. forum member, fanfiction, fanart (wallpapers I will consider), music etc.):
If fanfiction, of what varieties? (ie. pairings, slash, alt. universe, crossovers, future pieces etc) Why?:
Do women do things in the fan community that men don't tend to do?:
Have you ever been in a prominently or entirely female-based fan group? Was it any different than a prominently male or an evenly distributed group? (Rachel, Ana, EJ: I would consider our days in the oldschool Merry Rogues board a prominently female group... keep that in mind):
If you belong to multiple fandoms, do you find radical differences in attitudes and/or content-creation between them?:
What's your general opinion about people who belong to "fan cultures"? What stereotypes and/or patterns in behaviour do you see? Give male/female examples if you see differences between the two:
Anything else you might consider important or interesting about fan culture in general or about specific types of fan culture?
Any helpful hints for me in this project? *shameless*:

Please do this by the weekend if you could... it'll be helpful for my paper. THANK YOU EVERYBODY! *HUGGLES*
Love to you all,

Life is boring.
I feel sick.
I have to work today.
I swear to God, the only interesting things happen when I'm in Ottawa.

You Are Cyclops

Dedicated and responsible, you will always remain loyal to your cause.
You are a commanding leader - after all, you can kill someone just by looking at them.

Power: force beams from your eyes

... you don't understand. Cyclops is my LEAST fav of the X-Men. *shudders* Soo annoying and self-righteous. Which is why him dying in X-Men 3 did not disturb me in the slightest. *beams*

Ottawa Trip

I love Ottawa. Even when the weather is so hot I want to die. :D
Monday: After I got off the train, Adam and I slipped over to the Barrhaven Wizard's Tower where I bought FMA cards. After we got back to his place, Adam and I did not leave the house. I will leave it to your imagination to figure out what we were doing. :P
Tuesday: Too hot to leave house until evening. Went to see X-Men 3. Everyone, go see it, but prepare for a brain melt. And Kelsey Grammer as Beast is AWESOME. :D
Wednesday: Went to Ottawa U where I raided the Magic binders and Adam worked a shift. Then went to Barrhaven, where I won two out of three rounds in a Magic tourney with Rakdos goodness. Badness. Whatever.
Thursday: Train ride home. Did not feel sick. Score.

I have clearance, and my train tickets have been booked... I'm GOING BACK TO OTTAWA FOR 2 1/2 DAYS!!!!! *happy dance*
Horrid holiday weekend. Weather was gross, I had a big fight with my parents, and I've had to deal with scheduling problems at work. Fun.
Met my supervisor, Brennan... she's lovely, and we seem to be very like-minded. I want to do something interesting to the inside of the Gatehouse... but I don't know WHAT yet. Any ideas, folks? A campground gatehouse?

Bad books and crazy cats

take the WHAT BAD BOOK ARE YOU test.

and go to mewing.net. not as good as reading a good book, but way better than a bad one.

Heyo folks, been babysitting and doing my data entry job.... gahhh, computer induced headaches are fun. So is babysitting when two cats are chasing and playing with every possible item within reach and driving you bonkers.
The cats are cute and cuddly though. *shrugs*
I'm back into playing Nethack, with my usual lack of success. That game is wayyy too bloody hard. I like playing priests because of the healing spells. :)
Cheers everybody.

Well, here I am...

May 12th, 2006 (12:42 pm)

current location: Rural Hell
Mood: indescribable
Music: Tanglefoot: Secord's Warning

I'm back home now, though I spent the last week after Adam left with my friend Jo in Kitchener.
I'm doing OK, all things considered. I'm getting lots of work, as the campground is giving me more hours than expected.
I've started playing Magic the Gathering. I kinda splurged on cards in Kitchener. At least when we went to see the potter that Jo and I are so fond of I got some free stuff. No more spending money for S-chan. :/
I just feel kinda sad and lonely is all. I'm not coming back here next summer to live. 'Cause I don't think I can do this again. My steel spine (it's there you know, just gotta dig a bit) will get me through the summer but I'm not putting myself or Adam through this again.
